Whats Been Happening At Sydney Rigging Specialists
Happy 2008 to you all. Hope that you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year. We at Sydney Rigging Specialists had an extremely busy period leading upto the Christmas break. We got through all the work without too many problems and this is a credit to the guys for putting in a great effort to make sure jobs were completed on time.
On Boxing Day four of us headed off in "The Great Race" the Sydney to Hobart, John Wilson and myself (Bruce) sail on board "Wild Oats X1", Jasen Nehaus sailed onboard the Sydney 47 "Balance" whilst Lochie Stewart-Baker sailed on another Sydney 47 "Endorphin".
Boats rigged by Sydney Rigging Specialists had great success in the Sydney to Hobart race, Wild Oats X1 won line honours, Leopard was second, Ichi Ban third, Rosebud 4th.
The Farr designed ST65 "Rosebud" won the race on corrected time as well as winning the Rolex Cup and Solas Big boat challenge during her time in Australia, we supplied the original rigging for Rosebud when she was launched mid year and supplied some more for the Sydney To Hobart campaign. We are also supplying all the running rigging to a new ST65 under construction at present "Moneypenny" designed by Reichel Pugh.
In fact the only divisonal winner that did not use rigging supplied by Sydney Rigging Specialists was cruising division. The divisional winners were: IRC A "Quantum Racing", IRC B and OA "Rosebud", IRC C "Chutzpah (in association with Darkhorse Yachting), IRC D "Mr Beaks Ribs", IRC E "Zephry", PHS A "Sailors with Disabilties", PHS B "Namadgi" and Sydney 38 "The Goat". Out of the first 10 yachts on handicap 9 used Sydney Rigging Specialists.
In the modified Pittwater- Coffs Harbour, due to bad weather the race was changed to become Pittwater- Pitwater via Pt Stephens and Botany Bay. Wild Joe won on line honours and Bill Esbrays' Le billet won IRC. Both yachts are rigged by Sydney Rigging Specialists.
All in all the end to a great year, I will put the results up for 2007 when I get a bit of time.
Cheers
Bruce Clark
